How to make fursuit legs only?

Perhaps a silly question, but I'd like to know how to go about making JUST fursuit legs. Sort of like faun legs, but with my character's legs. Would I just make a DTD up to my waist, stuff that, and then pattern it, etc?

Also, they'd be digitigrade since my character has digi legs.

I would love to hear some opinions before I potentially waste any time or materials. I've never made anything near a body suit before, but I figure if I had time before Anthrocon, I'd fit in some legs!
