Zero III Fursuit?

I've searched all over the web and the memories section here but haven't found any tutorials for leg padding like that of Vin Weasel or Mr. Polar Bear. Although pictures of suits similar to those would be helpful as reference too.

Here's the fearsome foe I want to create. Zero III. As you can see he's more of a bipedal rabbit than a full on anthropomorphic one. That means beefy "legs" and a dropped crotch.

There are a lot of patterns on him too which I also looked for tutorials about. How do you go about sewing in such small specific designs? Is handsewing such things preferable? Am I just asking for a corinary getting into such a massive project?
