So I'm in the market for a new sewing machine, and I'm looking to spend between $400 and $600 (preferrably towards the lower end :P). I tend to sew a lot of wacky projects (6 layers of canvas for one thing, and 8 layers of felt for another) in addition to fur, fleece, vinyl, and all the other things we use. I don't need fancy stiches, but I do need durability, reliability, and preferably ease of maintinence. I've sewn on everything from a $2000 Bernina to a $40 Singer, so I can really appreciate the benefits of a decent machine :3
I'll be going into a sewing machine store (a dedicated shop, not Michaels or Joannes) to check out machines with some scraps of material. However, I'd like to get some info from the community first so I'll be a bit more familair with what they show me. Without further ado, here are my questions:
1. What machine do you have and how much did you pay? How do you like it?
2. Are there any features on it that you love? Features you don't use that much?
3. Is my budget high enough for what I'm looking to buy?
