Wondering if it's time for a new pair of clippers, though it seems too early yet.
I had shipped my clippers across the country over the summer and since then, they've been not shaving the way I recalled them to be shaving. I sharpen things up and oil it often, during the shipment though the two metal blades developed rust (perhaps something spilled and wasn't dried off from inside the box), I got the rust off from what I can tell (I only could see rust on the top two blades and don't know how to take the rest apart, but appeared fine in condition)- it *sounds* back to normal now. However, the way its been acting is quite odd to my memory unless i'm losing it, lol.
What happens is when I plow it into fur, it likes to skim the top and it feels 'hard' to get into the fur, not the way it used to dig right in and chop up clumps of it off instantly. Now it doesn't want to cut it up or take large chunks off it feels like. It makes me go 'slow' into the fur, like slow motion cutting. I keep thinking its a sharpening problem, i'm not sure if it's mechanical, something I can fix, etc.?
I also own a back up trimmer that I tried on the same fur, the exact same thing happens eventhough I am pretty sure it was recently sharpened and I shaved to 'test' it out, worked fine, stored it since then. I keep thinking it's the neon yellow shag fur, tomorrow I will try standard shag fur, since I never had this problem until I shaved this neon yellow fur. I can also take photos of my clippers tomorrow.
Am just wondering if anyone can offer any help here, i'm awfully confused. Hopefully it's not something expensive to fix up.
ALSO: side question!
* How do you get the fur shaved down on faces looking incredibly smooth? I have had my blades sharpened and still end up getting some textured cuts when shaving down far, at times. I tried switching the blade guards and re-sharpening and shaving in different directions and taking my time slowly to no avail. ^^;
