In case you were wondering why your 3D eyes aren't working, or just want to see how they might be made, I've made an animated gif using a 3D modeling program of what I've discovered.
I never really get the chance to say "hey, let me look at your head to see how it works", so I am usually left to my own devices trying to figure this stuff out. I've decided I really like the 3D eyes, or "living eyes", and have tried to figure out how they work, and how to improve them or make them easier to make with other materials.
(animation is ~1 frame per 5 sec):
I've decided on trying a conical iris, and the buckram I'm using is still fairly transparent at steep angles. I think it'll work better than some other designs out there.
Whatcha think?
