I know I posted before, but this is more of a challenge than I foreseen when I first thought of it. I've been watching Furbuy for a while, even before I decided to make something to sell, but I failed to study how long people's suits sat on the website before they started a bidding spree. I also failed to study the various species and what sold faster. I know fullsuits run higher so they usually sit on the site a lot longer, especially if there's no con anytime soon.
Sometimes they needed to sit for about two weeks or maybe a month before people started taking an interested in them in between cons. I know it also depends on how good you are, how many pictures and videos you provide of the head in action and maybe even the color scheme.
The species is also a factor, which is why I'm asking.
Since I've only made three heads, my latest one being a tauntaun, I wanted something I could easily complete at a swift rate. Not in a rush, but something that's not easy to figure out. I want it to look like what it is to just about any person on cue.
I'm going with either a cat or a dog since it's really simple. I might do a generic cat or dog for my own sake. I'm confident I can do it and make it look like what it's supposed to. The cat or dog will probably be a mutt, unless I get feedback about something specific.
The challenge is, I have some white fur swatches and mostly brown fur. Short pile brown fur from the local fabric store. It's not high quality, but it will get the job done if I do it right and it will last a long while.
I need a cat or dog that will be mostly brown with some white facial markings to make it more interesting.
All in all, I'm looking for what timing will bring in cash faster. I know one person told me just before a con. I'm going to research for that and the head done and waiting just before. I know people will figure out a way to make cash come in for them to buy something for such an event.
Any tips on how to figure that out or am I over thinking this and I won't know until I get it finished and get it out there? Is there a secret at all?
