So I've been fascinated by fursuits for a long time and have wanted to try making one for awhile, despite my limited sewing ability and even more limited budget. Recently, I decided to actually give it a try and made a Toothless the dragon costume. I only had a week to pull it together from the time I got the idea to the time of the convention I wanted to make it for. So I still need to make feet for him and the paws badly need to be redone. Still, I'd like to show off the few pictures I have of it and maybe get a little feedback? Here are links to a few of the better ones. I haven't had the chance to get good pics of the tail yet.
Toothless being cute
Toothless and Firefly crew
Toothless and teddy bear
Toothless and Batman
This is my first time making anything like this, so I know I've probably made a lot of mistakes. I used a black hoodie as the base for it and built the head out of foam and attached it to the hood. I plan to make a belly panel of some kind to hide the zipper and pockets. I used fleece, because my mom (who is good at sewing) recommended it as a forgiving and easy to work with material. The tongue is made out of a scrap of pink shiny material my mom let me have from a past project. The wings have a bent up pair of hangers in them to hold them up. The eyes are make from a pair of lenses from giant joke sunglasses. I cut the pupils out and painted them, then glued see-through black fabric to the insides. The visibility is... not great. XD Still, I didn't crash into anything or anyone, so I guess it's good enough with a handler to help out.
If you have any comments or tips, especially on how I can try to make Toothless's rather unique feet and paws, I'd love to hear them. Thanks for reading in any case :)
