Best way to fur a foam shaped tail?

Hello again :)

So I have my tail made out of foam to have a nice shape to it. But I have a question. How to I go about putting the fur on it? I know how to cut out the pieces and everything but would I have to hand sew the top of it? Or is there a way to pull the fur over it after being machine sewn?
