Foot Paw Bottom - Truck Bedliner and other solutions

This is a post chronicling my experiences with solutions to foot paw sole durability as well as containing questions in regards to what others have tried to resolve this issue.

So I took my feet out for a spin and to my disappointment (but not unsurprisingly) the foam puzzle mat had several punctures from rocks and other various hard sharp objects. I was not completely devastated. I slapped in some E6000 to the holes and pretty much good as new.

BUT! BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT!

I was driven by this unfortunate event to try out products to coat the sole of the foot paw. I like where my fur sits in comparison to the bottom of the puzzle mat so adding another rubber layer is the last resort for me. In lieu of that I have tried so far:

-3M Truck Bed liner
-Dupli color Truck Bed Liner

I plan to try until I find one of these that works:

-Shoe goo
-Plasti Dip
-Expensive Brush on Truck Bed Liner "Herculiner"
-Car mat
-Shoe sole sheets

Let me start by saying my last resort will be buying actual sheets of shoe sole seeing as the cost is about $25+ and add on another $25 for shipping (eep!).

So far I've tried two spray on truck bed liners. Both ended up hard and somewhat brittle due to the nature of the foam. Once sprayed on (even with multiple layers) the liner hardens. Since it isnt bendable (even though 3M says theirs is "rubberized") when the foam flexes the liner cracks and flakes off in chunks. I would not recommend using it on anything that is going to bend or move. It also doesnt have the grip I would assume it would.

Next in line is painting the bottom of the puzzle mat with shoe goo. This is something very useful for those in motocross as the soles ofthe riding boots get chewed up by the sharp foot pegs. There are sites stating applying (and reapplying) coatings to the bottom of the boots extends the life. Now the only question is how fast does the stuff wear off?

If anyone has any experience with these methods or other methods of creating a durable foot paw bottom please share your experience and knowledge~! Mahalo~!
