I've been using both Sorta-Clear 37 and EcoFlex 20 to make fursuit parts from an Ultracal mold and they tend to come out dusty, the dark casts being the worst affected. I don't think it's my mixing technique; I use a gram scale for everything that requires one and the later pulls that use pale pigment have zero problems, it's just that right now I have to make a bunch of black pads with a brand new mold :(
What do you guys do to prevent this? I've tried sealing the molds with spray gloss (which helped somewhat, but even after multiple coats it was unevenly absorbed by the Ultracal the casts came out unevenly shiny). I have Sonite Wax left over from my starter kits but I don't know how that stuff works with Ultracal and I'd like to avoid wasting materials experimenting if someone already knows a trick or two. Ideally I'd like something I can obtain easily (Vaseline? Clear nail polish? One million pale casts first?) without ordering online/going to that casting store out in the middle of nowhere but if a special product is the only option, so be it!
