Okay, so I've done a little casting (not much), but never in silicone. I've done a lot of sculpting, and I would dare say I'm pretty good at it. I also really enjoy it, and I know I'd have fun sculpting noses, paw pads, tongues etc. however, casting in silicone seems very expensive (there's a good mold making supplier in Canada, and I priced out a quart of dragonskin, and a sample set of pigments for 50$) and I've had a hard time finding recommendations for what's best to make the mold out of if one wants the finished product to be silicone. I kind of suspect the answer is more silicone, but would love a definite answer.
I've of course seen Dream Vision Creations' silicone cast pieces and they're very well priced, as well as good looking with a lot of options.
My questions boil down to - is it a LOT more cost effective to buy from DVC? Or would I get enough out of the silicone supplies that it would end up being a very similar price, especially when making multiple suits? Also, any tips or warnings about silicone casting are extremely welcome! I've found it very hard to search online, as you usually only find stuff about making silicone molds...
