A customer from just six months ago got in touch with me to share some recent photos of his costume and ask for advice. The white seal fur I used on the head and toes of the feetpaws appears to be going off-white/yellow. I assumed at first they just need some cleaning, but when I saw the photos it's clear (especially on the feet) that the white shag fur nearby is still bright white. I did suggest he just give everything a thorough cleaning, but I'm concerned with the photos.
I'm not entirely sure, but I believe the seal fur was the "beaver" from Fabric.com - regardless, it was high quality fur. And I am meticulous about matching my whites, so I guarantee they did not look like this when he got them. He's also a costume maker, so I know he's careful with this fursuit and I don't believe he's worn it a ton.
If anyone has advice or experience with this I'd love to hear your thoughts.
