brushed yarn for longer "fur" pieces?

So I used some different fur lengths on a suit I'm finishing up now but I don't think the difference between the long and short is quite enough. I want to add in some more, even longer fur tufts in some areas. I WAS going to run out and grab some kanekalon today and make some tightly packed wefts (and I'm not gonna bother with NFT for now) but then I thought about the brushed yarn tails I've seen around. How long can you get the "fur pile" on those? Cuz I think it'd be a lot more cohesive-looking with the rest of the fur than kanekalon wefts, better texture and shine, take airbrushing more like the fur, not have to be installed in "lines" etc.

And, has anybody else tried this? Any cautionary tales? :p
