Inspired by Tumblr's blog "Washyourfuckingfursuit" http://washyourfuckingfursuit.tumblr.com/ , I'm shooting to do an hour long panel on how to clean your suit inside and out. Got stains? Fur dingy? Severe matting? I've been working for over a year on methods, testing out products and tutorials, working with various furs, high and low quality, airbrushing, padding (removeable and non!) resin heads and foam/balaclava heads. Washing it isn't just for the smell and cleanliness, it's to help keep your suit lasting longer. News flash! Did you know bodily fluids such as sweat and oils from your skin can actually break down the backing of fur and make it weaker?
What I need from you all out there! Pictures and perhaps 1-3 volunteers. I need pictures of suits, new and old, that have been heavily loved. NO ADULT SUITS PLEASE!. I'm looking for any suit, pro or homemade, that is showing damage such as matting, stains, etc. Got white paws that just aren't white any more? Lemmy see 'em! Colors just not what they used to be? We want 'em!
Now I mentioned volunteers. I need to have them be Michigan furs that I can work with locally a week before MFF and you MUST be attending MFF! Why? I'm going to use you as the living examples. We're gunna clean your suit top to bottom. Ohio, Indiana, or other furs close are more than welcome if you're willing to make the day long workshop. We will be taking pictures of the suit before hand so that the audience can see the after product live. But your suit MUST be in need of a bath! I personally won't be washing, only demonstrating. If there's airbrushing I may also touch up your colors if the need arises.
