Completed Pokesuit

Haven't completed a costume in awhile, so I'm posting this joint-effort suit for a friend that debuted at A-Kon 24 this past weekend!

Introducing.... Jelly the Sableye!

This costume was supposed to debut along with my own secret Pokemon suit, however mine simply could not be finished. They will appear together hopefully at Natsucon which is the second weekend in July.

Costume Specs:
- Minky Cuddle 3 "Violet" from Fabric.com
- Head built on skateboard helmet
- Excellent vision port between eyes
- Additional floor vision and ventilation via mouth
- Custom molded resin eyes
- 7 Superbright blue LEDS in each eye, hooked up by my friend dawmasta/derpancakes
- Stompy feet
- Separate diveskin for easy de-costumifying
- Extra creepiness!

First time for me to dabble with custom molds for resin casting. I made the sculpt for the eyes, then used Alumilite to create the mold which gave me a cloudy-textured resin cast. A little bit of car polish helped with that, and then I delivered the pieces to my friend to hook up lights.

It also was our first time making an actual bodysuit-styled costume, so our trash bag patterning went a little weird first time around (which I perfected while patterning mine). Some of the seam placement is a bit... odd... but we're going to pick out the seams as much as possible to make it seemingly seamless!

Still needs some modifications since it was a last-minute finish for the Pokemon photoshoot, but it is completely presentable and people liked it at the con. ^^

Tons of construction pictures can be found at my Flickr gallery dedicated to this costume: http://www.flickr.com/photos/taokyuubimon/sets/72157632406460929/with/8943783240/
Some more pictures need to be added still, but it illustrates a lot of the general construction.

I apologize if you will be unable to sleep tonight. ;)
