Big ears

So I just received my resin blank yesterday. I have a question about attaching large/long ears. I watched a video on a suit that Monoyasha did about a suit she made. It has really big ears and she attached the ears to the hood instead of the blank so they would flop around when they ran into something. Is this a good idea or will it be okay to attach the ears to the blank itself?
Also is it better to have a balaclava? I noticed that when I wear a bandana my resin head does not slide as much because the elastic has something to hold on to. My head is pretty small so I have some serious padding on the inside
